Twenty people are under arrest after several lootings in Los Angeles’ fire-ravaged areas. LA’s County Board of Supervisors has vowed to crack down on any criminal activity tied to the disaster. The board chair calls this unacceptable, saying shame on the criminals preying on families in a time of crisis. Sheriff Robert Luna says roughly 400 department personnel are deployed in the fire areas, aggressively patrolling for looters. Luna says overnight and into this morning, they’ve arrested 20 people suspected of looting. He says it’s a misdemeanor crime to be in an evacuation area without authorization and a felony if convicted of a crime.
