At least a dozen pro-Palestinian protesters have been arrested after they barricaded themselves inside the office of Stanford University’s president early Wednesday morning. The group “Stanford for Palestine” says students and alumni locked themselves inside President Richard Saller’s office around 5:30 a.m. local time.
The university says the building has since been cleared, but there is extensive damage, and a public safety officer was injured. Protesters said they would not leave until the university administration agrees to divest from Israel.
Stanford released a statement saying it will work with law enforcement to ensure protesters face the full consequences allowed by law.
All arrested students will be suspended and if they are seniors, they will not be allowed to graduate.
