According to the survey from WalletHub, nearly half of Americans (47%) are planning to have a finance-related New Year’s resolution, representing a 36% increase compared to resolutions for 2023.

26% of respondents said their primary goal was to save more. Some say they plan to spend less (25%) and others to make more money (25%).

Most remain pessimistic about their economic future, as 65% admitted they were “anxious” about the future of their finances. The reason for the growing number of financially focused resolutions is inflation, with 60% of Americans citing it as their primary financial concern in 2024 and 42% saying that inflation will “absolutely impact their ability to achieve their financial resolutions.”

Financial resolutions ranked ahead of relationships (33%), educational (24%), and habitual (22%).
