A YouTuber who staged a plane crash in order to get more viewers will be spending six months in the slammer.
In November 2021, Trevor Jacobs posted the video ‘I crashed my airplane’, in which he ejects from his single-engine plane and parachutes – while holding a selfie stick, of course – into Los Padres National Forest in southern California.
But he later admitted to making the whole thing up, and then removing the wreckage from the crash site – which interfered with the FAA’s investigation.
This week, the 30-year-old Jacob was sentenced to six months for obstructing a federal investigation. He’s already had his pilot’s license revoked by the FAA.
