The Sacramento Superior Court is warning the public about a new jury duty scam. Scammers are posing as law enforcement officers and claiming there is a bench warrant for failure to appear for jury duty and that a bond must be paid to avoid going to jail.

For the person receiving the call it looks as though the call is coming from the Sacramento Sheriff’s Office because the scammers are spoofing the department’s phone number.

The court is reminding people that under no circumstances would you be contacted by phone or email for failure to serve jury duty. If you receive a call, you’re urged to report it to your local law enforcement’s fraud unit.
