Newsom Signs Speed Camera Bill in Bay Area

By

/

Bay Area drivers may soon be receiving speeding tickets in the mail. Governor Newsom signed a bill approving the installation of speed cameras in numerous California cities, including portions of Oakland, San Francisco, and San Jose.

The cameras are expected to be up and running sometime next year. They’ll be placed in school zones and other areas where local law enforcement has had to deal with speeding problems.

The cameras will record license plates and send $50 speeding tickets to any driver caught going at least eleven miles over the speed limit.
