Bay Area religious leaders are working with law enforcement to increase security out of an abundance of caution following reports that Hamas is urging its supporters to take to the streets for a so-called “global day of jihad.”

Former Hamas leader Khaled Mashal called for a global day of anger to support Hamas’ deadly attack on Israel.

Reports of an alleged terrorist threat for Friday the 13th have also been seen on social media.

Religious leaders have been consulting with the FBI and hiring armed guards.

San Jose police are deploying special operations personnel around places of worship. Other departments confirm they are aware and have added additional security at synagogues and other places of worship.
