Bay Area Jewish community members joined at Congregation Sherith Israel in San Francisco, offering prayers for the people of Israel. This show of solidarity comes in response to the violence launched by Hamas.
Co-organizers of the event included the JCRC Bay Area, Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund, and Congregation Emanu-El.
San Francisco Consul General to Israel, Ambassador Marco Sermoneta, emphasized, “This is the time to stand with Israel as we face a merciless enemy.”
San Francisco Mayor London Breed, who previously visited Israel on a sister city visit, affirmed her support for the community.
“These attacks, here in San Francisco, we don’t support. We condemn, and we stand by the people of Israel,” stated Breed.
On Monday, the United States said nine Americans were killed and other U.S. citizens were missing in Israel.
