The Sacramento Police Department and Police Commission are holding two forums to talk about the military equipment policy.

The meetings are being held to discuss the police and the department’s future requests for more military weapons. The first meeting will be on Thursday at the Hagginwood Community Center at 5:30 pm. The second meeting is on Saturday at 11 am at the Hart Senior Center.

The police department also opened an anonymous survey for people to share their thoughts on military equipment in the community. The survey and questionnaire are open until August 25th.

California Assembly Bill 481, signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom in 2021, requires law enforcement agencies to seek community feedback on the acquisition, funding, and use of military equipment.
