Recall Effort Against Alameda County DA

By

/

A group wants to recall Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price. Safe Alameda for Everyone (SAFE), a group described as “tough on crime” advocates, is organizing the recall effort.

This recall effort comes as the highly publicized case of Jasper Wu continues, the toddler killed while inside a car on an Oakland freeway. Price removed special circumstances charges against suspects in the case, which removed the possibility of life without parole.

SAFE will now need to fundraise so it can gather enough signatures to launch the recall against Price. It will also be very costly as initial estimates are in the millions.

This recall comes a year after San Francisco voters booted their own progressive district attorney, Chesa Boudin. Some of Boudin’s staff later went to work for Price.
