A graphic video has been circulating on social media showing a homeless woman giving birth on a San Francisco sidewalk surrounded by bystanders. The incident occurred on Geary Street in San Francisco, right next to Union Square, in the city’s Tenderloin District.

The San Francisco Fire Department confirmed that a woman gave birth to a child in “public view” on Thursday, though the department declined to confirm the location or time, citing privacy laws.

In the video, the woman is seen lying on her side with her pants pulled down, attempting to cradle the newborn. Watch the shocking video here.

Last year, a stillborn baby was found in the port-a-potty of a “city-sanctioned” homeless encampment.

A recent survey found that a third of the U.S.’s entire homeless population and half of all unsheltered homeless people live in California.
