On Sunday, The California Highway Patrol confirmed a five-year-old girl was shot and killed on Interstate 880 in Milpitas on Saturday night.
The shooting occured along southbound Interstate 880 and killed 5-year-old Eliyanah of Santa Clara as she and her family drove to a birthday dinner.
Around 6:40 pm Saturday, a vehicle pulled up alongisde the family on I-880 and inside began firing shots. The third shot struck Eliyanah and friends say she died within 30 seconds.
As of Monday morning, three suspects are in custody in connection with the shooting and a gun was recovered, according to the Santa Cruz Police Department.
Authorities are expected to release more information about the I-880 shooting and the people in custody.
