Commentator and former Fox News contributor Steve Hilton has entered the race for California governor. Running as a Republican, Hilton launched his campaign with the slogan “Make California Golden Again,” aiming to become the state’s first GOP governor since Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Hilton was quickly endorsed by former presidential candidate and current Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
Originally from the U.K., Hilton advised former Prime Minister David Cameron and became a U.S. citizen in 2021. He is also the author of the book Califailure.
Although Democrats have a supermajority in the legislature, a recent poll of likely California voters indicated that 48% would consider backing a Republican for governor, according to polling conducted by David Wolfson.
