Two proposed bills to ban transgender athletes from competing in female sports have been rejected. Assembly Bill 89 would have established a ban on athletes born as male to compete on a girls’ interscholastic sports team. Meanwhile, AB 844 would have reversed laws allowing trans athletes to compete in female sports starting from elementary school and up through college.
