The Los City Council is approving a controversial package of motions on dealing with immigration enforcement. The council says the motions they moved forward Wednesday are aimed at protecting immigrants who are here illegally. It comes during a federal crackdown and threats to so-called sanctuary cities.
Council members asked for more discussion over 540-thousand dollars to maintain immigration legal services. It’s designed to cover a gap created when the Trump administration froze such funding. Another item that passed on Wednesday would create a so-called “Know Your Rights” campaign in Los Angeles.
