California Attorney General Rob Bonta is appealing a judge’s ruling on his lawsuit against the city of Huntington Beach and its voter-approved Measure A, which requires voter identification for municipal elections. Former Huntington Beach Mayor and current councilmember, Gracey Van Der Mark says the Judge handed a win to the good guys.
The judge in the case tossed California’s lawsuit, saying that since Huntington Beach is a charter city, Measure A does not conflict with state law. California has sued Huntington Beach over other issues like the state’s high-density housing mandate and the city requiring parental notification if school children ask to be identified as a different gender.
