Debate Continues in Sacramento Over Cannabis Lounges

A debate about cannabis lounges in Sacramento will continue Tuesday at a special city council meeting. Local dispensary owners are preparing for the possibility that the new rules will be approved, seeing potential benefits. Kimberly Cargile, CEO of A Therapeutic Alternative, tells The Sacramento Bee she believes lounges would provide a safe and legal space for people to use cannabis, especially for those who can’t do so at home like renters and for those not using in public. Still, some public health groups are worried that the lounges could pose health risks to customers, employees, and nearby residents.
