SF Criminal Cases Thrown Out Over COVID Backlog

Outrage is growing among San Francisco crime victims after their cases get tossed.  A state court ruled they had a certain time frame to go to trial but missed the window because of COVID delays.  The pandemic caused a backlog, leading to about 70 cases being dismissed yesterday including charges for DUIs, sexual battery and deadly driving.  The district attorney says the order “stripped victims of justice and robbed defendants of their rights.”
