The CEO of Salesforce says San Francisco needs to refund the police department.  Marc Benioff posted to his X account that the city should refund, not defund the police.  In 2020, Mayor London Breed redirected 120 million dollars of law enforcement funding to the Black community.  Her new budget pays for an additional 200 officers.  Benioff says there needs to be a lot more cops to bring order back to the streets of San Francisco.

Salesforce is soon requiring all employees to return to the office for at least three days per week, and San Francisco leaders are excited.  Salesforce Tower in the downtown area once housed more employees than any other building in the city.  Officials expect the influx of workers to be a boon for the local economy.  However, commercial real estate experts point out that the downtown area still has a vacancy rate nearing 37 percent, and Salesforce has laid off more than three thousand employees in recent months, so the positive effect on the city will likely be negligible.
