Security is tight in Milwaukee as the Republican National Convention kicks off. Secret Service agents and local police departments from the East to the West Coast are everywhere. Coast Guard choppers were seen flying across the Midwest city over the weekend and it’s nearly impossible to drive anywhere. Streets are being blocked with concrete at a moment’s notice and trying to walk around is a very cumbersome process with massive fences across many sidewalks. The Trump assassination attempt over the weekend likely added to the security process in Milwaukee but it always was expected to be airtight.
The NYPD has also increased security around Trump Tower out of an abundance of caution. Crowds gathered in front of Trump Tower over the weekend since the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a rally in Butler Pennsylvania Saturday. A counterterrorism memo by the NYPD says the assassination attempt of the former President is expected to be exploited and calls for heightened vigilance and heavy security. The NYPD says there will also be heightened security with locations other than Trump Tower that are linked to Donald Trump around the city.
