AAA is warning about how extreme heat can impact your car.  When there is a heat wave, a AAA spokesperson says more vehicle breakdowns tend to happen.

The spokesperson adds that proper vehicle maintenance, especially during high temperatures, is key to avoiding heat-related issues.  They recommend checking your battery.  Most car batteries last three to five years, so if it’s older than that you may want to test it before heading out on that summer road trip.

Also, inspect the tire pressure because tires can experience more blowout on hot pavement.  Lastly, if you can, keep your car out of the heat by parking it in shaded areas, a car port or the garage and use sun visors to minimize heat build-up
