Los Angeles County Supervisors this week voted to approve funding for the legal bills of Pro-Palestinian protesters who were arrested at UCLA. The Supervisors passed a motion to ensure the public defender’s office provides defense attorneys and legal resources.

Republican Supervisor Kathryn Barger was the sole vote against the motion. Barger questioned the need when public defenders are already provided to defendants who cannot afford legal representation.

On the night of April 30th, about one hundred pro-Israel counter-protesters confronted the pro-Palestinian activists, resulting in violence. Days later, a pro-Palestinian encampment was removed by law enforcement, and several arrests were made.
