Oakland is making changes in the wake of In-N-Out closing its only location in the city.  Mayor Sheng Thao says she’s adding more police patrols and technology in the Hegenberger corridor to “deter and respond to criminal behavior.”

But she admits more needs to be done to protect what she calls a “tourist gateway.”  The fast-food chain claims the area has become unsafe for customers and employees.

A Starbucks store in the same lot shut down last year and Raising Cane’s has switched to drive-thru only to prevent car break-ins.
