Last week in San Francisco, two U.S. Postal Service employees were targeted by robbers during a surge in mail carrier assaults in the area. Federal investigators have now tripled the reward for information that leads to arrests in these cases.

The first incident occurred on Tuesday in the Mission District, where the assailants reportedly stole mailbox keys and mail from the worker. Surveillance footage captured the worker’s screams during the attack.

The second attack took place on Thursday afternoon near San Francisco General Hospital, also in the Mission District. While both workers are expected to recover, no arrests have been made in either case.

In response to these crimes, Rafael Nuñez, the USPIS Inspector in Charge, announced that information leading to the arrest of anyone who attacks a mailer carrier would be tripled from $50,000 to $150,000.
