Some schools are telling parents to monitor their children’s social media use while the war in Israel rages on. Counselors are concerned over the possibility of graphic images of hostages held by the Palestinian militant group Hamas circulating.

They warn that the images could cause trauma. The National Association of School Psychologists recommends that parents appear calm when talking to kids about terrorism, but to also tell the truth.

The CEO of X, formerly Twitter, says the social media platform has removed hundreds of Hamas-affiliated accounts since the attack on Israel.

Linda Yaccarino says the company assembled a leadership group to assess the situation shortly after the weekend attack and has redistributed resources to address the rapidly evolving situation. The move is in response to an ultimatum by the European Union to stop the spread of disinformation on X.
