The Express clothing store in Union Square is yet another retailer closing its doors. A sign on the door says the store will close on October 22nd. Nordstrom, Uniqlo, and Old Navy have also left Union Square.
Last week, Starbucks announced it would close several stores in Downtown San Francsico including Union Square. Several other high-profile businesses also recently announced closures in the downtown area.
Target announced it would close due to excessive shoplifting, and Westfield Mall near Union Square says declining sales has them turning over the mall to their bank.
