California can keep its ban on high-capacity gun magazines. The ban affects magazines that hold more than ten rounds of ammunition.

A divided federal appeals court says it can remain in effect for now, while the state appeals another judge’s ruling that found it unconstitutionally violated the rights of firearms owners.

California’s Attorney General says he’s “Relieved the court considered the public safety of Californians in its decision.”

The California Rifle & Pistol Association says it’s disappointed and vows to “Defend the rights of gun owners in California all the way to the Supreme Court.”
