An iconic Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk business is closing. Hot Dog on a Stick will be shutting down after nearly 90 years. Sisters Allison and Laurent Twisselman found out last week that the Santa Cruz Seaside Company won’t renew the business lease for family-owned Twisselman Enterprises, which opened Hot Dog on a Stick in 1934.
The Seaside Company operates all the rides, games, arcade and miniature golf, several merchandise locations, and more than a dozen food and drink spots on the boardwalk. Twisselman Enterprises operates Hot Dog on a Stick and three other food concessions: BoardWok, World Grill, and California Wraps and Bowls.
The Seaside Company will take over operations of all four businesses next month.
