SF Cops Cracking Down on Car Break-Ins

Police in San Francisco are hoping to stop the current trend of brazen car break-ins in the city.

Police officials announced Thursday they plan to add more officers to the areas where the smash-and-grab break-ins are taking place.

Many of the areas are heavily trafficked by tourists and people say several of the robberies seem to be happening every day.  Police say they plan to use bait cars as well to catch thieves.

In a moment of irony, a car break-in happened just minutes before and blocks away from where police held their press conference to announce the new enforcement efforts.
