California state is banning the sale of diesel-powered trucks by 2036 and is limiting big rigs, buses, and other large vehicles over the next few years.

Big rigs, local delivery, and government fleets must transition by 2035, garbage trucks and local buses must be zero-emission by 2039, and all other vehicles covered by the rules must be zero-emission by 2042, according to the office of Gov. Gavin Newsom.

President Biden’s U.S. Environmental Protection Agency needs to approve or deny the rule.

According to a report by The California Globe, The California Air Resources Board used two Chinese studies: “The science behind these regulations is not only dubious, it is from China, which has a strong motive to see that the United States succumbs to the climate change movement, much of which is funded by China.”

Last year, California approved a regulation requiring all new car sales to be zero-emission vehicles by 2035, including plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.
