San Francisco Police Officers Association Sets the Record Straight on Crime

The San Francisco Police Officers Association, which represents the city’s rank and file released a graphic correcting what it called “false statements” regarding the San Francisco Chronicles data on crime. 

The SF POA continued: “We reviewed their source document and it’s right there in black and white Over the last three years, Violent crime is up 7.5%, and property crime is up 20.1%!! BTW, homicides YTD are up 20% this year!” 

In a separate piece, the Chronicle stated: “The homicide rate is among the lowest of major cities in the U.S. And during the pandemic, overall reported violent crime fell to its lowest level since the 1960s.”
