His radio show has won the Garden Writers Association Award of Excellence Nationwide for "on air talent". He has been honored with this award three times in the past six years.

Returning to the subject of saving seeds and promoting locally-adapted plants, Bob interviewed Bill McDorman. Bill is a "grow it yourself" kind of guy; he started his own Seed Company, Seeds Trust, where they promote "heirloom" seeds that will sprout true, generation to generation. Bob and his company, which is a true family business run by multiple generations of Bill's family, sell these seeds -- but they also encourage customers to save the seeds from the best-tasting, most-successful results from those seeds, and grow them again and again. To help people learn how to best do this, Bob is also starting a Seed School.

We welcomed our old friend Lance Walheim, who is a popular gardening author, citrus expert, and a representative for Bayer's "Bayer Advanced" line of gardening products. Bayer recently came out with a new organic line - Natria - which is exciting news to Bob, and many listeners of this program. One of the topics discussed was the current threat to California's citrus industry, the Citrus Psyllid.
